PERKASIE, PA — Following a domestic incident involving a mother and son, reports of a sword-wielding man in the area of East Rockhill Township prompted Pennridge High School to go into lockdown on Tuesday morning. The Pennridge Regional Police Department responded to the 600 block of Campus Drive around 11 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a domestic incident. Before police arrived at the home, one of the residents left the home with two swords in hand, traveling down a walking path on Branch Road. After a two-hour search, which utilized police on foot and drones, the man was taken into custody in the area of Minsi Trail and Schwenkmill Road. He was then taken to St. Luke's Upper Bucks Campus for a mental health evaluation. Because the incident took place so close to Pennridge High School, the school was placed on lockdown for about an hour and a half. "This decision was made out of an abundance of caution," the police department said in a statement. "The Pennridge Regional Police Department would like to thank the students, staff and families for your understanding during the school lock down." The arrested man currently faces charges related to the incident.
