Why is this program important to families?
Good mental health is fundamental to the health and well-being of every person, family, and community. A large part of that message is making sure that people have access to the type of care or support they need. When a loved one is effected by mental disorder or addiction, it can impact the entire family. When that person enters treatment, the family’s pain and confusion does not go away. Family member’s intentions are to be helpful for their loved one, but soon may become burdened or stressed due to the lack of tools to effectively engage with their loved one.
Our goal is to promote mental health recovery and independence by providing families with education about mental health, community resources, skills training and ongoing guidance about managing behaviors, problem solving, social and emotional support.
