Our award-winning Junior Ranger program engages with children to make an oath to protect their beloved state parks and share their ranger stories with friends and family. Eldorado Canyon State Park is looking for future young ambassadors of the park. The programs offer fun interactive outdoor games, learning activities, and fun crafts each with a unique theme. Children who attend the programs will earn their official Junior Ranger badge and certificate. For this event, we will learn the basic skills in fly fishing at South Boulder Creek with Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff who will instruct participants on how to rig/cast a fly rod, how to select a fly, how to read water and understand where to cast, and how to safely handle fish. We will provide all necessary fly fishing equipment. All levels welcomed NO EXPERIENCE NEEDEDPlease arrive a few minutes early, the program will begin promptly at 5:00 pm; meet at the Eldorado Canyon Visitor Center located at 9 Kneale Road, Eldorado Springs, CO 80025. This event will be from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm with the option to stay for an additional hour to continue fishingThis program is for children ages 8-12 with a parent and/or adult guardian required to be present. Participants ages 16-up must have a valid 2022 Colorado fishing licenseProgram admission is up to 10 children (NOT INCLUDING PARENTS) The program is free, but a valid Colorado State Park's Pass is required to enter and can be purchased at the entrance station or visitor center. The fee is $10 per vehicle.Restrooms are available at visitor centerPlease bring water, snacks, appropriate clothing and bug spray.Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff, Irlanda and Sam will be leading this programI will send a message to confirm the trip and remind participants to cancel if they can no longer attend, so those on the waitlist can join the program.
