Description

My name is Officer Wendell Tolber, badge #2152. I'm with the Columbus Division of Police. I’m asking for the communities help and assistance in recruiting volunteers to help with a strategically planned clean up event for the Colonial Village apartment complex located on 1256 Rand Ave. on the East side of Columbus. Colonial Village (CV) has been in the news due to deplorable living conditions. Over a period of time, the complex was legally taken from the previous owners. There is now a strong effort in place to get the CV community cleaned up, so the residents can have pride in where they live. We (CPD and the community) want to come together and give the CV residents a fresh start and a ray-of-hope by cleaning up their community on a large scale. There will also be social services and organizations onsite to give services and information that will add to the quality of life, not just for CV residents, but for residents of the City of Columbus and not just for a day, but long-term help. This will be a way to bring to light to some of the great programs that can help residents throughout the city. What we are looking for to help make the event a success: • 200-300 Volunteers • Mulch • Weed preventer • Landscaping companies • Gardening tools Our plan is to have media outlets cover and publicize the event for awareness, and inform the general public how to sign up, participate and donate to the event. CPD will be on sight in and out of uniform. We’re asking volunteers from each organization to wear their favorite shirt representing their organization. The date of the event is June 25th, 8:30a kickoff, 9a-1p cleaning. Looking forward to your support. Respectfully, Officer Wendell J.
