Join The Afiya Center for its 9th annual community HIV testing event.
As a Texas-based social justice organization committed to centering trauma-informed care, The Afiya Center works to address the unique needs of Black women, increase awareness and advocacy around policies in order to transform reproductive oppression so that all women can achieve maximum health, wellness, and reproductive freedom. We seek to decrease HIV risk, while simultaneously addressing the social determinants of health that drive disproportionate rates of HIV among Black women in Texas, such as systemic poverty, obstetric racism and access to quality education. We serve as a safety network, collaborator, resource center and info-hub for mobilizing, grassroots organizing, and policy change throughout Texas.
GET TESTED! According to the CDC, 1 in 7 people living with HIV don’t know it. Updating your HIV and STD health status every 3 to 6 months or more frequently depending on your sexual activity is important. #SexResponsibly and encourage your friends to do the same.
Free HIV testing will be provided by Dallas County and Abounding Prosperity. All information and results are kept confidential to comply with HIPAA regulations. (no appointment needed) Covid vaccines and booters will also be available. Courtesy of Commissioner County District 3, John Wiley Price.
