In this honest, inspiring and relatable memoir, Simu Liu tells his own origin story of being a Chinese immigrant, his battles with cultural stereotypes and his own identity, becoming a TV star, and landing the role of a lifetime. ______________________________________________________________________________________ ***Mask coverings are highly recommended if you are not vaccinated.*** To make this event safe and enjoyable for all attendees, please read the below guidelines ahead of buying a ticket, so you know what to expect on the day. Please have a copy of your ticket available (either printed out or on your phone) for check in.GUIDELINESThis is a signing (signature only) and photo-op event. There will be no personalization.Due to COVID-19, masks are highly recommended if not vaccinated.Socially-distanced photos will be taken on customer's camera/phone by B&N staff.Any gifts for Simu Liu will be collected prior to entering the signing line. No memorabilia will be signed at the event.No large bags will be permitted into the event.In order to attend this event, ticket holders should: Have not had any contact in the last 14 days with a confirmed COVID- 19 patient. Not be subject to a quarantine order. Not traveled in the past 14 days to any state or country that California has designated as an area requiring isolation upon returning to the state. At the time of the event, have not experienced in the last 72 hours any body temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit or any new symptoms associated with COVID-19. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. In this honest, inspiring and relatable memoir, newly-minted superhero Simu Liu chronicles his family's journey from China to the bright lights of Hollywood with razor-sharp wit and humor. Simu's parents left him in the care of his grandparents, then brought him to Canada when he was four. Life as a Canuck, however, is not all that it was cracked up to be; Simu's new guardians lack the gentle touch of his grandparents, resulting in harsh words and hurt feelings. His parents, on the other hand, find their new son emotionally distant and difficult to relate to - although they are related by blood, they are separated by culture, language, and values.
