Jazz Vibist Rich Greenblatt, pianist Mark Shilansky, bassist Greg Toro, and drummer Mike Connors perform tunes from their 2022 recording, inspired by legends like the Modern Jazz Quartet and the Beatles. Driving swing, introspective ballads, and telepathic interaction describe this band’s modus operandi, offering appeals to the mind and the heart. Vibist Rich Greenblatt has four recordings as a leader and has performed with a who’s who of jazz artists from Jerry Bergonzi to Greg Hopkins. He and pianist Mark Shilansky (longtime collaborators and Berklee colleagues) formed this quartet with bassist Greg Toro and drummer Mike Connors to explore the instrumentation of the Modern Jazz Quartet, delve deeply into classic jazz literature by artists like Horace Silver and John Scofield, reimagine the odd Beatles or Bob Dylan tune, and compose original music embracing modern jazz and latin idioms. All this culminates in their current recording projected for a 2022 release. A Listening Room Experience Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from across New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. To do this, we ask that our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow both the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments. All shows commence at 6:00 PM with a warm-up artist, Charlie Jennison on piano. We encourage you to arrive early and enjoy food and wine until 7:20 while listening to our first act of the evening. The kitchen will close at 7:00. We will introduce the featured artists at 7:20, and we will ask that the audience remain quiet during the performance. The first set will be from 7:30 to 8:15. There is a short intermission from 8:15 to 8:30, at which time you are encouraged to interact, freshen your drinks, and use the restrooms as needed. At 8:30, the show resumes with the second set, concluding between 9:00 and 9:15. After the show, we invite you to interact with the artists and purchase any music or merchandise offerings if available. 6:00 PM - 7:20 PM - Eat, drink, and be merry.
