From Gardenland to Rotten Egg, we'll explore the makeshift existence of the hundreds of souls who, escaping the throes of the Great Depression or the scourge of the Dust Bowl, decided to make a stand in Sacramento. Rare photographs, archival content, and handouts will accent this presentation. James C. He is the creator of the Valley to Vietnam documentary series - "WWI Revisited" - Sacramento Room Digital. He is the Co-author of World War II and the Sacramento Valley (History Press, 2018), World War I and the Sacramento Valley: Great War in the Great Valley (History Press, 2016), author of Sacramento's Gold Rush Saloons (History Press, 2014), Co-Author of Sacramento's Alkali Flat (Arcadia, 2009) and Mather Field (Arcadia, 2011). He served as an American Library Association consulting librarian for Ken Burn's "Vietnam War." Immediately following the presentation, folks will meet at Del Norte Hall to participate in a brown bag lunch in a shady spot on campus. You are invited to join the campus tour after lunch where we will enjoy an Arboretum Tour with Mike Baud and Donna Eash. Meet at Del Norte Hall at 12:30. No registration is required.
