Description

12 Medfield Establishments Alcohol Compliance Check The Medfield Cares About Prevention (MCAP) community coalition and the Medfield Police Department would like to recognize 12 local establishments for successfully passing a recent alcohol compliance check. We would like to thank them for doing their part to keep Medfield safe and healthy by not selling alcohol to individuals under the age of 21. By preventing youth access to alcohol, these establishments are effectively reducing the negative consequences of underage drinking; including car accidents, assault, increased likelihood of developing a substance use disorder, mental and physical health issues, and educational issues to name a few. Reducing youth access to alcohol ultimately creates a healthier environment for all Medfield residents. The recent alcohol compliance checks consisted of the Medfield Police Department and representatives from the Massachusetts' Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) sending in an underage person to attempt to purchase alcohol at local bars, restaurants, and liquor stores. If the underage person was successful in their purchase, the establishment would fail the inspection and receive a notice to appear in court. Servers could be charged with a fine of $2,000, up to a year in jail, or both. Establishments that pass the compliance checks are those that request and validate ID from the underage individual preventing any purchase of alcohol. The following 12 establishments have received a certificate of appreciation from MCAP and the Medfield PD for a job well done: Avenue, 445 Main St Basil, 43 Frairy St Bullard's Market & Package Store, 77 North St Jing's Garden II, 16 N Meadows Rd Kingsbury Club, 2 Ice House Rd Larkin's Wine & Spirits, 20 North St Medfield Commons, 270 Main St Medfield Wine Shoppe, 258 Main St, Suite 5 Noon Hill Grill, 530 Main St Nosh and Grog, 21 North St Palumbo Liquors, 547 Main St Takara, 1 Green St The following establishments were closed at the time of inspection: Zelus Beer Company and Seventh Wave Brewing.
