Description
Each year, LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is recognized in June. It’s an important month of recognition for the promotion of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, acceptance and increased visibility for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s a time to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as a time to commemorate years of struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit of equity. During Pride Month, we see many companies making public gestures of support. Hundreds of major brands have become regular sponsors and supporters of annual Pride events, lending their platforms to support progress for the LGBTQIA+ community. And while there are visible signs of progress and landmark advances have been made in marriage equality and workplace protections, many challenges continue to persist in the workplace for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. At Goodwill, we are committed to supporting the cause. Our Goodwill proudly participates in the Pride parade, promotes inclusion and belonging by establishing an organizational DEIB Advisory Group to have an additional lens on our DEIB efforts, conducts ongoing management training and provides opportunities for growth and development for our LGBTQIA+ team members. Join us June 9 for Coffee and Conversation as we honor Pride Month and discuss the intentional and concerted efforts it takes to build an equitable and inclusive workplace that endures for all. WHAT IS COFFEE & CONVERSATION?Each 90-minute, bi-monthly session of the six-part series will engage attendees in thought-provoking discussions grouped in some of Charlotte’s key Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion topics to bridge the gap between the community and those who engage with Goodwill through programs, services and retail operations. With a capacity of 25 guests per session, attendees are grounded in community issues that create space for lively, highly engaged group discussion co-created and facilitated by community change catalysts, Kellen Nixon and Annetta Foard. Coffee & Conversation is a safe and trusting space for all to lean confidently into their lived experiences and cultural identities.
