Press release from the Fox Cities Chamber: June 8, 2022 Thank you for supporting the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore bike tour. Our non-competitive cycling event took place on Saturday, June 4. It featured more than 600 registrants who rode either a 100-, 60-, 30- or 15-mile course. Our event was the first we've held since the COVID-19 pandemic effectively shut down mass participatory events two years ago. It felt good to be back. The BayCare Clinic Century welcomed participants of all ability levels, including serious cyclists, casual riders and everyone in between. We watched with pride as waves of riders, young and not so young, left the start/finish line on their cycling adventure. Each course took riders through scenic farmscapes, gently rolling hills and shoreline vistas as they pedaled through portions of Brown, Door and Kewaunee counties. There were numerous highlights along the century routes, including rest stops at Wequiock Falls in Green Bay, Cecil Depeau Bay Shore Park in New Franken and Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery in Stangelville. Our event was a success thanks to the support of cyclists, sponsors and donors, volunteers, communities and government agencies within Brown, Door and Kewaunee counties, and our physicians and employees. How do we know it was a success? The feedback was immediate. Riders shared their thanks for having a century ride. It offered another sign of the post-pandemic, gradual return to normalcy. Many riders stayed for the post-ride food and entertainment. We talked with several riders who offered suggestions for improving next year's ride. We call that a success. We plan to continue and grow the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore and promote cycling as a family-friendly and healthy activity. The century tour is part of our BayCare Clinic Bikes community wellness initiative, which promotes bicycling as a healthy, family-friendly activity. The initiative also seeks to increase bicycling while advocating for bike safety throughout northeastern Wisconsin. We hope our BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore participants continue to enjoy cycling throughout the year, whether in other events or simply by riding with family and friends. We're working to encourage increased physical activity by promoting cycling as an easy, family-friendly activity that offers health and fitness benefits as well as simple pleasures for all. All proceeds from the event benefit the BayCare Clinic Foundation, which supports causes and organizations that promote improved health and wellness in northeastern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Thanks again for making this event a huge success for northeastern Wisconsin.
