Man Badly Beaten On Hamilton Heights Street, Police Say

HARLEM, NY — A man was severely beaten on a Hamilton Heights street last month by a group of people, one of whom remains at large, according to police. The assault unfolded on West 144th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam avenues, just before midnight on May 31, according to police. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was being assaulted by an unidentified man and "several" other people who have since been arrested, according to police. It was unclear when the assault began or whether anything led to it. The man who remains at large stomped repeatedly on the 35-year-old's body and punched him in the face multiple times with closed fists, causing him to lose consciousness. He then fled on foot to an unknown location. The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical but stable condition, according to police. Police released photos of the remaining suspect in the May 31 assault. (NYPD)Authorities described the suspect as a man between 20 and 30 years old, standing between 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a slim build. He has black hair with short braids and a mustache, and was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket with a white stripe down the arms, a black shirt, gray ripped jeans, gray sneakers and a black hat.
