Description

Press release from the City of Dunedin: June 9, 2022 With the exception of Summer Camp locations all city facilities will be closed for an employee in-service day in honor of Juneteenth. Last year, Juneteenth was approved as a federal holiday. Juneteenth is the oldest, nationally celebrated commemoration of the day slavery officially ended in the United States. This day, which is already celebrated throughout the U.S. (including Florida), highlights African-American freedom and achievement, while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures. This past January, the City Commission adopted Juneteenth as an In-Service Day for City Employees to celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion. This press release was produced by the City of Dunedin.
