Description
Imagine the most magical fall festival, a night in the Gardens, eating local foods, dancing, and celebrating our thriving local food system. Join Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and Blue Cross NC for A Savory Shindig! Funds raised from A Savory Shindig will support Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture's work to build equitable and sustainable food system where producers are thriving and local food is accessible to all. About the EventHosted at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens, A Savory Shindig will showcase the bounty of our autumn season, featuring soups, stews, and salads from Farm to Flame, Lost Province, eightpointfive and more! Guests are encouraged to bring a fresh vegetable from the High Country Food Hub, King Street Farmers' Market, their CSA, garden, or another local farmers' market. Contributions will be prepared onsite for the CommUNITY Stew, which will be supervised by Tina Houston of Reid's Cafe, Betty's Biscuits, and The Beacon. The CommUNITY Stew will be available for purchase on the High Country Food Hub in a later order period. Dance the night away at the Cake Walk with delicious cakes and pies made by our community's favorite bakers. And enjoy refreshing beverages from Appalachian Mountain Brewery. Collaborate on a 6x8 foot art piece, called the Farmural, created on-site by the 400 hands of event participants (designed and overseen by a local artist Tommy Lee) with the image to live on well past the event in various ways, including inside the High Country Food Hub! To ensure that more people in our community have an opportunity to attend, guests are welcome to purchase a ticket for someone else. If you would like to attend but cannot cover the ticket price, please reach out to Dave Walker at [email protected].
