Description

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE Our objective during this workshop is to learn basic songwriting skills, cowrite a worship song--both music and lyrics--and perform that song with the assistance of FPC musicians during worship on Sunday! KENNY AND CLAIRE are a husband-and-wife worship duo based in Nashville, TN. They write worship songs and rewrite hymns in a Folk/Americana style. Their goal is to encourage the church with lyrics and music that contain deep doctrinal truths and are firmly rooted in scripture. Listen to a sample of their music ("Are You Weary?") below. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Clarksville believes that music-making is transformational. Musical participation expresses our love for God, affirms and teaches our beliefs, strengthens faithful relationships, exposes our strengths and growing edges in a safe space, and inspires discipleship beyond these church walls. Our worship music typically includes pipe organ works, traditional hymns, choral anthems, and contemporary songs done acoustically. Listen below to a song ("Reflect the Face of God") written by one of congregants for a sample of our style. PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS This workshop is open to those age 16-26; however, exceptions may be made depending on circumstance. Message FPC's Music Director, Hannah Cruse, at [email protected] for clarification or questions. When you register for any of the dates, you are registering for the entire weekend. Friday and Saturday participation is required, but performance during Sunday worship is optional. You may register for the workshop with or without lunch provided by the church on Saturday. Lunch is $20. No details available about ingredients at this time. All musical levels welcome. We will make use of your gifts, whether you sing, play an instrument, write poetry, or are creative in some other way. All Christian backgrounds, genders, and orientations are welcome. We make music for the glory of God and love of all neighbors.
