NEW LONDON, CT — A man accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a home and setting a car on fire has been arrested, according to police. Police responded to a call May 19 at 1:10 a.m. reporting a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at a Granite Street home in New London.
Police arrived and found evidence of two incendiary devices and damage to the home. No one was injured in the incident. Police said "a lengthy investigation ensued" and that they were seeking a person of interest for questioning.
Police and fire units responded to a call May 31 at 1:41 a.m. reporting a car fire in front of 48 Granite St. The car was fully engulfed in flames when police and firefighters arrived. The fire was extinguished and an investigation ensued.
Police made an arrest connected to both incidents Tuesday at 11:49 a.m. Ture Champion, 25, of Groton, was charged with two counts of manufacturing a bomb, first- and third-degree arson, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, and first- and second-degree criminal mischief.
He was held on bonds totaling $300,000.
