To celebrate the USA's 2022 Juneteenth Federal Holiday and to encourage the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California to make Juneteenth an official City Holiday, Monday's participants heed U.S. Representative Opel Lee's call to annually WALK 2 1/2 miles in remembrance of the 2 1/2 years it took for all American Slaves to be informed that they had been freed. Greeting participants Monday (6/20/22) 10:30am at 7th Street & Anaheim Place (near the Solamonte Apartments Complex), Hollywood actor Phillip E. Walker-MFA will lead the 2 1/2 mile WALK to Rancho Cucamonga City Hall where all will request that the Government make Juneteenth an official City Holiday. Departing the Solomonte at 11:00am, Walkers are expected to arrive at City Hall by Noon. Non-Walkers can meet us there at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.
