MARYLAND — Old Bay released a pride month version of its hot sauce. Sales will fundraise for mental health resources for the lesbian, gay, transgender, queer and questioning community. The pride month hot sauce has the same taste offered since the original condiment debuted in 2020. This month's special bottles feature rainbow accents, honoring the pride flag. Customers can buy a 10 oz. two-pack for $10.99. Pride Edition Old Bay Hot Sauce will be on sale throughout June while supplies last. The limited-edition sauce is only available online at this link. A photo of the bottle is posted here. Old Bay will donate $4 from every purchase to The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ+ youth. McCormick, which owns Old Bay, guaranteed a minimum donation of $25,000. The money will support The Trevor Project's free, 24/7 crisis services. It will also help scale counselor training to reach the more than 1.8 million LGBTQ+ youth who seriously consider suicide each year in the U.S., a press release said. The idea for pride month hot sauce came from PRISM, McCormick's employee ambassador group for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. "Old Bay represents hometown pride," McCormick Chief Marketing Officer Jill Pratt said in the June 1 release. "It goes on everything and should be shared with everyone. It's an iconic flavor that unites us all. We're grateful for the opportunity to partner with The Trevor Project and help advance their mission to end suicide among LGBTQ youth."
