Press release from the Boulder Valley School District:
June 8, 2022
The Boulder Valley School District Board of Education voted on Tuesday, June 7 to change its 2022-23 Academic Calendar. Please Note: Spring Break will be shifting a week later next school year (22-23), to align Boulder Valley School District's calendar to the University of Colorado Boulder.
BVSD and the university typically collaborate to ensure major breaks are aligned, understanding the large number of connections between the two institutions. Many CU Boulder students, employees and families have students enrolled in the local school districts.
A discrepancy was identified between the two calendars for the 2022-2023 School Year – Spring Break was scheduled on two different weeks. While CU and the school districts issue their calendars a few years in advance for a variety of planning purposes, the misalignment was overlooked as calendars were finalized and approved.
Again, following the Board of Education's unanimous vote on June 7, BVSD's calendar is now amended, moving our Spring Break to March 27-31, 2023 – in alignment with CU Boulder's break.

We regret the impact that this change may have on some families that have already planned around the published dates. BVSD will provide families with the ability to excuse absences caused by this situation.
Going forward, the university and local school districts are dedicated to working together and aligning as many academic breaks as possible.
