MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man has been sentenced to 78 months in prison after admitting to his role in a plan to distribute large quantities of cocaine in and around Passaic County, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Kiuny Perez, 44, of Rockaway Township, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi. Perez was sentenced earlier last week in federal court in Newark, according to authorities. Perez is also subject to three years of supervised release. According to authorities, Perez was part of a conspiracy to distribute large amounts of cocaine in and around Passaic County. In November 2017, officers observed Perez and a co-defendant meet at a Passaic location and exchange a package containing cocaine. A press release from the U.S. Attorney's office in the District of New Jersey stated that officers later stopped Perez's vehicle and discovered cocaine in a hidden compartment beneath the dashboard. Later, officers discovered $297,350 in cash in Perez's home, Sellinger said. U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited the investigation that led to today's sentencing to special agents and task force officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration's New Jersey Division and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
