The Ross Valley Sanitary District Invites Applications for the Position of COLLECTION SYSTEM WORKER I/II (APPLY HERE: ) HOURLY WAGE: CSW I $33.77 - $43.10 CSW II $39.16 - $49.98 40 hours per week Plus an excellent benefits package The Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking two (2.0 FTE) motivated Collection System Workers willing to learn new skills and work with cutting edge technology to join our team! Collection System Workers operate and maintain sanitary sewer infrastructure while providing excellent customer service to the Ross Valley community. ABOUT THE POSITION CSWs perform a variety of skilled - journey level work and manual labor in the operations, maintenance, and repair of sewer lines and related mechanical, hydraulic and hand-operated equipment. Collection System Workers are normally scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm (40-hr workweek). All Collection System Workers also work on a rotating “on call” basis. SAMPLE DUTIES OF THE CSW CLASSIFICATION INCLUDE: *Participate in inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, and repairing wastewater collection systems including pump station mechanical equipment. *Utilize a variety of mechanical and specialized equipment including, but not limited to, Rodders, CCTVs, and high velocity cleaners. *Inspect, trouble-shoot, and maintain proper collection system infrastructure and easements. *Participate in the repair of the wastewater collection system, including damaged pipes, manholes, and casting adjustments. *Removal and restoration of concrete and paved surfaces. *Conduct daily inspections of vehicles, hand tools, and equipment. *Perform lubrication and minor operating adjustments to ensure proper operation of vehicles, hand tools, and equipment. *Perform basic building and yard maintenance. *Plan routine traffic control measures at work sites and perform non-routine traffic control under general supervision. *Observe all safety precautions as required by regulatory agencies and the District; including using personal protective equipment and following hazardous communication policies and procedures. *Participate in confined space entries including, but not limited to, atmospheric monitoring, hazard mitigation, and appropriate safety procedures. *Respond to and investigate service calls or complaints concerning such matters as sewer odors, sewer trouble, and sewer back-ups, and make the necessary corrections. *As assigned, participate in or lead the containment and cleanup of emergency sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) in occasional 24/7 on call duty as Primary or Secondary Stand By upon passing District criteria. *Perform a range of activities related to locating and marking sanitary sewer infrastructure and underground utility lines using a variety of equipment. *Communicate and interact with the public, local government, and other utility personnel in a courteous, professional manner. *Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications *Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent. *Two years general maintenance and construction experience *Valid California Class "C" Driver's License *Must have a satisfactory driving record and continue to meet District vehicle liability insurance company driving standards. *To be considered for the CSW II classification, two years of collection system maintenance and operations is required. Licensing, Certification, and Registration: Interested Candidates who do not have the certifications listed below are encouraged to apply and work toward acquiring the certifications prior to the end of the 12 month probationary period. Certification training occurs on District time. Candidates must complete and possess required certifications to pass probation. By the end of probation, possession of the following licensures, certifications, and/or registrations is required: *Possession of a valid California Commercial Motor Vehicle Class “A” Driver’s License with Airbrake and Tanker endorsements. *Collection System Maintenance Grade I Certificate from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) *Confined Space Entry Certification *Line Locator Certification *Excavation Training for Competent Person Certification Benefits 4.5% COLA increase scheduled for July 2022. Paid Time Off: Competitive vacation and sick leave accruals; 15 paid holidays, including four floating holidays. Health Plan: One hundred percent of Kaiser Bay Area Family Premium is paid for by the District. Dental and vision coverage is also provided. Retirement: CalPERS defined benefit retirement – 2.7% @ 55 formula for classic members; 2.0% at 62 for new members (as of 12/31/12). Fully coordinated with Social Security. IRS 457 Plan: Pre-tax employee contributions can be made in addition to the District’s contribution. Retiree Medical: Employee funded Enhanced Retiree Medical Benefit offers qualified employees a medical reimbursement each month, for life, equivalent to the lowest cost PERS medical plan.
