JOLIET, IL — Just days after announcing that Will County had eight probable drug overdose deaths between Monday and Tuesday, Coroner Laurie Summers announced on Thursday that there are two more people who lost their lives in Joliet to apparent drug overdoses. Summers did not provide more details on the deaths such as the person's age and where the deaths occurred, so Joliet Patch has reached out to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English for more details on both cases. Summers indicated the two most recent Joliet overdose drug deaths happened Wednesday and Thursday. "The Coroner's Office is committed to keep the public aware of these cases," Summers announced on Facebook. Through May 2, there were 47 confirmed overdose deaths this year, not including this week's eight likely overdoses, according to statistics shared by the Will County Coroner's Office. Of those 47 deaths, 41 have involved heroin/fentanyl.
