"The history and importance of Juneteenth and the importance of freedom for all people is paramount if one is going to achieve their fullest potential. The effects of oppression are deeply embedded and I look to describe some of the ways in which denied freedoms impact the lives of those seeking liberation. In sharing this history I will shift to the celebration that emerges from the gallows of struggle and culminates in the continued striving for a world where we all can achieve the love, light and liberty intended by our creator." -Dr. Denman
