Press release from the Dayton Metro Library: Christy Lynne Trotter, Content Writer 08 June 2022 Dayton Metro Library invites Huber Heights residents and DML supporters to celebrate the construction of the new Huber Heights Branch Library at its future location of 6243 Brandt Pike, Tuesday, June 14, at 11 am. Attendees will be able to take part in a brick-signing ceremony and enjoy light refreshments. Comfortable shoes are recommended. 6243 Brandt Pike This event is a monumental achievement for DML because it marks the final project of the Library's Libraries for a Smarter Future facilities plan. Thanks to Montgomery County voters passing a 2012 Bond issue, which allowed for the funding of renovating and building new Branches for DML, patrons and community members all over the DML service area have been able to enjoy state-of-the-art facilities since the first project, the renovation of the Electra C. Doren Branch, began in 2014. The Huber Heights Branch is expected to open in Spring 2023. Behind the scenes, Huber Heights residents have been voting in person or online for inspiration artwork from Dayton Art Institute's permanent collection. Selected pieces will then be used by artists as part of DAI and DML's joint project, ReImagining Works, which will have placed over 60 pieces of unique art inside new or renovated Branches by the time the new Huber Branch is complete. Voting on inspiration pieces ends Sunday, June 12. Those interested in attending this Huber Heights celebration may RSVP to [email protected]. For those who wish to vote for ReImagining Works pieces or follow the project's process, updates are posted at DaytonMetroLibrary.org/Works.
