BROOKLYN PARK, MN — A new "test-to-treat" site is set to open Friday in Brooklyn Park, where residents who test positive for COVID-19 can get a prescription before leaving the facility. Minnesotans who test positive at the new location in Brooklyn Park can choose to be evaluated by a clinician, who will write a prescription for Paxlovid, an antiviral medication, if they believe it is appropriate, state officials announced Wednesday. Paxlovid is an oral COVID-19 treatment that helps "keep high-risk patients from getting so sick that they need to be hospitalized," according to Yale Medicine. Rep. Residents can fill those prescriptions at a pharmacy for free thanks to the state's new partnership with the federal government, Gov. Tim Walz said. State and federal officials are working to allow Paxlovid to be dispensed at "test-to-treat" sites. The Brooklyn Park "test-to-treat" site will be located in the Starlite Center at 8085 Brooklyn Boulevard, Axios Twin Cities reported. 1st Taco Bell Defy Location Opens In Brooklyn Park Minnesota is among the first states to launch "test-to-treat" locations, adding those who test positive should "have immediate access to treatment options," Walz said.
