On May 19, 1972, the Kappa Delta Chapter of Omega was organized by eight men “of like attainment and of the same ideas of fellowship, scholarship, and manhood” at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. These eight friends, endeared as the Revolutionary Eight, represent the foundation of which more than 150 Brothers have been initiated as sons of Kappa Delta. The legacies of these men and others birthed through the Kappa Delta Chapter have influenced every facet of our beloved Fraternity and society to this day. Since 1972, the Kappa Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi has produced Men and brothers who have impacted every aspect of college life and society. From Student Council to the Black Student Awareness Committee; from the National Society of Black Engineers to UAB varsity football, basketball, track, and cross country; from ROTC to Military officers; in the fields of law, medicine, education, civil service, science…you name it, we’ve done it and have done it better than most. This event celebrates 50 years of Gala/Banquet celebrating 50 years of building bridges and enhancing the college life at UAB.
