BATAVIA, IL — The more time passes, the more painful it gets for many Batavia residents to see the price of a tank of gas.
Prices in Illinois continue to skyrocket, with the average price for gas being $5.53 per gallon as of Wednesday, according to AAA. That's 40 cents more expensive than a week ago and about $1 — 94 cents, to be exact — more than a month ago.
At around $5.78 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were significantly above the state average.
Nationally Wednesday, the average was still under $5 at about $4.96 per gallon.
With prices as high as they are, you can still save a little bit if you know where to look in Batavia.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Batavia is selling for $5.54 per gallon at Walmart, 885 N. Randall Road. Here is what other stations around town are charging:
