Click here to learn more. Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix: Tomorrow night's (Jun. 10) Phoenix Mercury game at the Footprint Center will celebrate Pride. As part of the team's "Pride Night," the women's basketball team will sell Pride socks with the Mercury and Suns logos, with all proceeds from those sales going directly to the LGBTQ+ community. Said Mercury president Vince Kozar in a statement, "As the first professional sports team in Arizona to host a Pride Night, march in the Phoenix Pride parade, or have a presence at the Phoenix Pride and Rainbows festivals, we take seriously our role in providing visibility and representation to historically marginalized communities, especially those to which our players, staff, and fans are deeply connected." (Arizona Sports)Triple-digit temperatures are expected in Phoenix through the weekend, triggering an excessive heat warning lasting through Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Select hiking trails will remain closed during the day, while the Salvation Army will activate its heat relief stations across the Valley. Head to the nonprofit's website for a list of participating heat relief stations, open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. (KTAR.com)Citizens intervened to stop a carjacking in west Phoenix yesterday. According to police, the attempted carjacking took place near 83rd Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. One of the citizens reportedly shot the suspect, who was hospitalized in critical condition.
