General Description of Duties: This position involves the performance of duties under the direct supervision, instruction and monitoring of a Sheetmetal Journeyman or other company manager. The performance of duties of this position requires a good working knowledge of sheetmetal field fabrication and modification techniques, ductwork, assembly and installation methods. This person should be capable of installing a ductwork trunk line run with the direction and assistance of a Sheetmetal Journeyman. Specific Duties: This position requires the person to be proficient in the duties of a Semi-Skilled Mechanic and those skills listed below. Under the supervision of a Sheetmetal Journeyman this person should posses the skills to accomplish the following:  Capable of field fabrication and modification of ductwork fittings; including transitions, elbows, and offsets.  Capable of basic reading and interpretation of project drawings and blueprints.  Capable of basic duct trunk line layout, assembly and installation.  Capable of proper installation of trunk line spin-in and damper fittings.  Capable of proper installation of mechanical room unit ductwork hook-ups.  Capable of installing round and spiral ductwork.  Capable of proper installation of VAV, Fan Coil Units, Fire Dampers, and other related ductwork accessories.  Basic familiarity with construction codes and standards.  Possess basic hand sheetmetal tools and drill. Experience Level: This position requires the person to demonstrate the above skills and have 5+ years experience in this trade.
