General contractor for shower tile/pan repair / replacement
Jobs
Burbank CA
Description
Hello, not entirely show if multiple people will need to be hired for this job or not but the summary of the task: The shower was found to be leaking. After inspection it was determined that the pipes were not the issue and it's the shower pan / shower tile that needs to be replaced. We have obtained a permit from the city of Burbank in order to conduct this repair in our shower and now are in need of someone qualified to help repair/replace the shower tile / shower pan. Below is the original estimate of what work was needed to do this which may help as a reference. We're thinking it might be possible for someone to just replace the tile / shower pan and maybe the original contractor was looking for more work for more pay but we're also not well versed on this situation. If you're able to help with this task please e-mail with more information and once again we do have a permit from the city of Burbank in order to work on this shower in our condo which requires whomever that works on it to fill out some paperwork as well. Original submitted project: Detailed plans the contractor sent over: 1. Shower stall and tile (on floor and walls) need to be replaced due to leaking shower stall in Condo. The existing toilet will need to be taken out and reinstalled after project is completed. 2. Demolition and items to haul away: Double bypass shower enclosure. Trim plumbing fixtures. Tile surround and substrate (to expose wall studs). Shower floor and dam - shower pan (to expose wall studs, subfloor, blocking and dam). Toilet, wax ring, bolt kit and water line. 3. Carpentry: Make repairs or additions to wall studs, subflooring, blocking or dam due to damages unseen. 4. Rough Plumbing: Remove existing valve body and riser and replace with new. Set valve in wall and tie to existing water supply lines using 1/2" L copper tubing. Set riser for shower head with 90 degree "dog ear" elbow supported with 2" x 4" lumber. Set 80" from floor. Set new 2" cast iron drain for shower stall. 5. Shower Pan: Fabricate new shower pan using roofing felt and hot tar. Reinforce cold joints with fiberglass cloth. Plug drain and fill pan (to dam) with water and let sit for 24 hours. 6. Substrate: Apply metal lathe with moisture barrier to existing wall studs and dam. Scratch and brown coat with cement. Apply deck mud cement to shower floor and slope to drain. 7. Tile: Set tile to 3 wall surround and shower dam using 12" x 24" field tile. Border surround and top of dam with Schutler strip borders. Set tile to shower floor using 2" x 2" Mosaic tile. Tile niche in back wall. Border edges with Schutler strip borders. Set all tiles with thinset cement. Grout 1/8" spacing with stain blocker additive. 8. Shower Enclosure: Provide and install new double bypass semi frameless shower enclosure. 57" x 74" with bright chrome trim and clear glass panels. Measurements to be determined upon completion of tile. 9. Finishing: Install trim plumbing in shower stall. Set toilet.
