Description
PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents will have one more chance to take advantage of free, drive-up coronavirus testing in the city for December on Tuesday.
The fourth testing date of the month will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at Higgins Middle School.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but not required and can be done here. Registration cannot be done over the phone.
"Pre-registration helps us plan for staffing, spread out the car volume and speed up the process," the Peabody Health Department said. "However, it does not guarantee that you will be able to be tested at your scheduled time. We anticipate long lines at all of our clinics, so please plan accordingly."
Those who do not want to pre-register or want a walk-thru option can take advantage of the "Stop the Spread" sites in Salem and Lynn.
The testing comes after Peabody remained a "high risk" city for community spread for the fifth straight week, according to this week's state report.

There were 896 positive cases of coronavirus reported in the city over the 14 days leading up to this most recent state report. The city's positive test rate of 8.72 percent and its rate of cases per 100,000 residents of 96.2 — a key metric the state used in determining whether a community could move forward in reopening prior to the latest restrictions — were also slightly lower.
Before changing the reopening guidelines in October, any community with more than 8.0 cases per 100,000 residents was considered "high risk" communities and had to roll back business reopening.
