GENERAL DESCRIPTION Set up and operate a variety of machines tools including lathe and mills to produce fabricate, modify, repair equipment, precision parts and instruments out of metal, plastic, or rubber. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures.   PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE) Steel toe safety shoes must be worn at all times Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas Electrical Testing Equipment Computer Hand tools Power tools Pneumatic tools Forklifts PLC’s & HMI’s   RESPONSIBILITIES Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Measure examine or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Set up, adjust or operated basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods of sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.  Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.  Fit and assemble part to make or repair machine tools Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools, and power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.  Set up or operated metalworking, welding, or cutting equipment.   Prepare working sketches for illustration of product appearance Conducts troubleshooting and plans work procedures with minimum supervision. Inspect company equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Service, repair, adjust and test machines devices, moving parts, and company equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles.   Provide information to supervisors, co-workers by telephone, in written form, email or in person.  Develop constructive and cooperative working relationship with others.  REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus and their application Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, users, repairs, and maintenance.   Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision, technical plans, blueprint drawings, and models.   Ability to operate cutting and grinding equipment, metal and/or plastic forming equipment. At least four years of on-the-job training experience as a Machinist.
