For many years, there have been rumors about Clifton Theater in Huntigton, PA being haunted. People have reported feeling cold spots, hearing footsteps walking across the stage, hearing disembodied voices, and apparitions that disappear just as quickly as they appeared. The Huntington Opera House was built in in the mid 1850s and it was so big, that the opera house took up nearly the entire block. It also housed a drug store and a grocery mart. People from all over, including outside of the state, would come to see the shows at the opera house. In 1901, the theater was purchased by a successful businessman Andy Gamble. Talkies were the latest thing, so Mr. Gamble got rid of live theater and just showed films on one big screen. Unfortunately, bad luck fell in Mr. Gamble's lap. A fire forced him to close the business and transfer people to the Grande Theatre if they wanted to see movies. After Gamble, a man named Blackfoot bought the business and named it Clifton after his son who happened to be a lieutenant in the military. The current owner, David People purchased the theater in the id 70s. In the mid 90s, he added four extra theaters to the already existing one, as well walls and a whole new wing, and renamed it The Clifton %. It is said that paranormal activity happens on a regular basis at the Clifton 5. One spirit that frequents the theater is "The Lady in Red". Those who have seen her have said she wore a scarlet dress and can be seen walking up the staircase directly to the right of the lobby. Is this the spirit of a wealthy woman coming back for another show? Or perhaps, she was an actress loves the spotlight. Those who have witnessed this female spirit, claim to have heard a disembodied voice whisper.... Lolita. Another spirit people have seen is that of a little boy. He is said to wander theater calling out for his mother. Other experience people have had in theater are disembodied voices, apparitions, being grabbed or having their hair being pulled. Joining you in investigating the Clifton 5 Theater will be none other than RTL PARANORMAL, Clifton Paranormal and Daryl Marston from A&E's television show Ghost Hunters! Doors open at 6PM for photo opportunities and an opportunity to wander around the theater. 7PM we will do introductions, a history lesson about Clifton 5 Theater, followed by an investigation of the location. You will be split up into groups with a group leader(s) and get the opportunity to investigate the Clifton 5 Theater! ALSO.... Since it is Halloween time, we will be doing a Halloween costume contest! Two lucky winners will win free ticket to ghost hunt the Clifton 5 Theater with Clifton Paranormal and RTL PARANORMAL at a later date. Some of the proceeds will go to the Clifton 5 to help restore the theater back to its glory days!
