We will begin the day in Camden with some time to go over camera controls. This tour is perfect for all photographers & all camera types including smart phones and tablets. You will be met at your skill level with guidance to build on your camera-handling techniques with tips on seeing and composition. Information on how to prepare for your photo tour will be in the confirmation email once you have registered, but you can always reach out with questions anytime. ABOUT THE BOAT RIDE & LOBSTERS: It will be an exciting day that includes both land and sea adventures. On the boat ride, you will witness up-close the techniques of lobster fishing, see a lobster trap being hauled, learn about the lobstering industry and a little marine biology. You’ll have the opportunity to photograph the lighthouses from the water and keep an eye out for marine wildlife such as seals, ducks, ospreys, bald eagles, and porpoises. ABOUT THE LIGHTHOUSES: On shore, you will stop at scenic and interesting locations as we drive to our lighthouse destinations. While photographing the Maine lighthouses you will explore the grounds, the structure, and it’s history. A couple lighthouses have a museum and gift shop in what was originally the lighthouse keeper’s dwelling. The museums house artifacts that help paint a picture of the lifestyle and the type of work required in keeping the beacon shinning, as well as other displays of coastal history. ABOUT YOUR GUIDE: All tours are led by me, Dee Peppe, a longtime local, fine-art photographer and professor at the University of Maine. I bring a unique combination of local knowledge and teaching experience to the itinerary of every tour. While covering camera techniques, I strive to show you ways to expand your vision and increase your awareness of your surroundings. I will help you understand the camera controls that can support your vision, and overall, to help you to see the world through your camera with more creative ability.
