17mo St Bernard needs rehoming

Gimli is a 17 month old, intact male St Bernard. He is up to date on all his 1st year shots and has gone to the groomers every 3-4 months. We are currently in the process of preparing to move across the country and sadly, we were unable to make it work for him to come with us... We have had Gimli since he was 8 weeks old, he is a fully bred Saint, parents were 200 & 210lbs fully grown. He was raised around small children but would be best to go to a home with either older children (9+) or no children. **We strongly ask that if you have anyone in your home who could be knocked over and injured due to his size, please reconsider contacting.** He was also raised around a female dog and male cat, he would fit best with a dog more his size and close in age. My elderly girl just can't keep up with him and he is VERY prone to chasing cats and small animals in general. He is very sweet, wants to be in your company and lay in bed with you in the morning, natural goofy personality you would expect in a Saint. We see him most happy with either an active family who can take him out for walks and runs or have a yard big enough for him to run and play for a while before coming in to rest on the cool tile. THIS BREED IS NOT MEANT TO BE AN OUTSIDE DOG IN AZ, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS TO HIM. :( He still needs consistent training as Saints take a slower time to mature. Due to his size, walks need more work so an experienced handler or someone able to provide training would be wonderful for him. We love and care about him very very much and want him to go to the happiest home possible! He will come with his food, bowl, KONG collar and leash and his favorite toys.
