In emergency communications, effective leadership ensures that telecommunicators are doing the right thing and doing things right. This especially includes instances of interoperability and coordination with neighboring jurisdictional partners. In order to effectively communicate with other agencies and public health and safety departments it is first necessary to establish a strong and reliable foundation within an agency. A huge part of that is ensuring that the agency has supervisory personnel that are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make the right calls under pressure and time-sensitive situations. Effective and prepared communications supervisors are key to the successful cooperation of agencies in the National Capital Region.
