Band of Teachers

Description
Hey I’m a guitarist who’s played forever, got to tour once, and have nice gear and whatnot. I’m in my 40s and am a schoolteacher by day and the bands I’m currently in are just not playing enough to my liking. Btw, I’m south shore based and work metro-west for reference… I’m looking for a group of musicians who are in a similar situation in their lives who are teachers and/or have their summers off. My vision is to have a band that plays year-round but also plays a lot over the summer when I/we have more time. I also envision playing primarily original music, I’m not really into doing a cover band thing. Also, this should not be viewed as a "money gig", so I don't think this would be a fit for those really looking to get paid out here. Interested people should have experience and are very competent at their instruments. I’d love to have an improvisatory aspect to the group, but I also believe in having great songs. I write a decent amount of music and would love to have people that really value making original music and perhaps write as well. Genre-wise, I’d like to see who responds before getting heavy into a specific genre. Here are a few preliminary thoughts though: - I’m not looking to do something predominantly “acoustic”. I want to plug in, I want an electric experience; - I would enjoy an instrumental project as much as one with vocals; - While I have respect for all musical genres, there are a few I’m not interested in pursuing here. Country, straight-up blues, bluegrass, traditional jazz, and classic rock are ones I can’t see myself doing, some for taste reasons, some for ability reasons. Also I’m out on metal and really heavy shit. Great genres, but not what I want to do here. - I listen to a lot of soul/r&b, improvisatory music that is jazz-adjacent, some indie rock, some hip-hop, some post-rock. - While I’m not particularly into traditional jam bands that are dominant/mixolydian sorta based, I do like the idea of having strong songs and stretching out with improvised sections and solos. Anyways, let me know if this sounds good to you. Drums, bass, keys, horns, singers, rappers, strings, whatever…
