Art does not judge. It is everywhere and it is in everything. It is a giant oil painting, a child with a piece of sidewalk chalk, a carpenter sanding away, a chef mincing and chopping, a musician singing and strumming, a dancer, moving and flowing, so many places and spaces. It has been a part of the thread of existence since the beginnings of time. When humans learned how to make fire, that was art. It takes creativity to make change and improve. Expression is in every soul. Sometimes it has been dimmed by societal pressure, and trauma. That is one major reason I became an expressive art therapist. To speak to a person's soul with the power of art. To allow their creative light to shine again as it did when they were children, and then begin to heal. Art has saved my lifetime and time again; I know it has been and will always be there. It is an eternal gift, and I am honored to be able to share it. This is class that will involve group members being able to engage in open art studio and free art making. Each class will begin with a check in or warm up such as a breathing/meditation exercise which will then be followed by art making. Group members will be invited to begin a project that they will continue for the duration of the class. Group members are invited to offer support to one another and use various materials to work on their projects. The only requirement is to come with an open mind and be ready to make a mess! My name is Amanda and I am currently a clinician in the field of human services. My mission has been to help and support others. I believe in shining the light so that others can see their glow. It has been amazing, I have had wonderful opportunities along the way and I have learned so much from what I do. I am interested in giving back to the community by providing my skillset in expressive arts based therapies and allow others to come and make a beautiful mess! This is an OUTDOOR class, under a tent.
