New School Design Exhibition It is with great excitement that we invite you to join the SPA|NOLA 2021 Cohort as they present their New School Design projects through our New School Design Exhibition. The New School Design is the program's capstone project through which teams of students work year round to design an innovative and transformative school that will tackle the educational achievement gap and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. The students will present their projects to a panel of judges who are leading educators in their region. This is an incredible opportunity for educators all over the United States to see what our future education leaders are bringing to the table and to witness what our students have learned throughout SPA|NOLA. Please join our graduating 2021 Cohort on Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 pm CDT for the 10th Annual New School Design Exhibition. Our event will also livestream to our YouTube Channel! What is the New School Design Project? The New School Design (NSD) project showcases the efforts students have made over 14 months in SPA | NOLA. Serving as the capstone project, students integrate the knowledge and skills they have developed while preparing for leadership service in schools across the nation. he New School Design Project showcases the efforts that candidates have made over 14 months in the Summer Principals Academy. Cohort members are grouped into smaller teams based on similar interests and ideas, and work throughout their second summer to brainstorm ideas and generate the school design that would best meet the educational needs of the nation’s most vulnerable students. Serving as the capstone project, candidates integrate the knowledge and skills they have developed while preparing for leadership service in schools across the nation. The leadership teams are challenged to design a new school that reflects the domains of knowledge, skills, and habits of the mind that they acquired while addressing the challenges faced by children seeking a 21st century education. Students present their innovative work to a panel of judges, an audience of critical friends, and the wider community of educators in the region on the last day of Summer II. The event offers SPA | NOLA students the opportunity to share their innovative solutions for overcoming the achievement gap with fellow educators in the region.
