Does the prospect of using a chainsaw make you feel uncomfortable? Here’s your chance to learn a new skill with other women in a supportive and welcoming environment. Led by arborist Mike Sullivan, this workshop will help the beginner or novice chainsaw operator gain greater confidence with this useful tool. The 1.5-hour program will be a hands-on learning experience covering: • Personal protective equipment • Chainsaw anatomy and basic maintenance • Chainsaw show and tell • Holding and starting a saw • Planning for cuts • Basic limbing Women who participate in the workshop will gain a better understanding of the safety features of a chainsaw and be able to operate the tool safely. No experience necessary. Equipment will be provided, however, if you have your own chainsaw or personal protective equipment, please bring it with you. Dress and prepare for the weather including long sleeves, pants and boots. The program is free, but space is limited.
