SHREWSBURY, MA — A Shrewsbury woman is one of six people indicted this week in connection to a bribery scheme facilitated by a group of businesses connected to urine testing in Massachusetts, according to Attorney General Maura Healey. According to Healey, Vipin Adhlakha, who owns three urine test labs — including one in Worcester — paid marketing companies to send testing business to his labs. Adriana Sanchez, also known as Adriana Vaccaro, 40, of Shrewsbury, was indicted on conspiracy and facilitating kickbacks or bribes charges, according to Healey. The AG "alleges that Adhlakha and his companies engaged in kickback relationships with marketing companies OSA Exports and Summit Diagnostics to increase the number of urine drug tests referred to his laboratories in exchange for a percentage of collected insurance reimbursements in violation of the Massachusetts anti-kickback statute," Healey said in a news release Tuesday. Healey also said Adhlakha submitted fraudulent claims to MassHealth for urine tests that were not medically necessary — for example, where homeless shelters require clean urine samples for residents. Sanchez and the other defendants will face the charges in Suffolk County Superior Court.
