WALLINGFORD, CT — The Sheehan girls track and field team won the program's first-ever State Open championship Monday at Willow Brook Park in New Britain – just three days after winning its first outdoor title at the Class M meet, according to the Record-Journal.
The Titans claimed the team title with 43 points, while Joel Barlow was second with 37 points and Danbury was third with 35.
The team Patrice Mansfield, Amanda Castaldi, Maya Wresien and Avery Winters won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.50. It was a new school record, according to the Record-Journal.
Sheehan coach Charles Farley told the Record-Journal that this year's track team was the best he's seen in his 57 years of coaching.
