WESTFIELD, NJ — Nancie Tieri, a junior at Westfield High School, turned her passion for fashion into a philanthropic mission to help underprivileged individuals in her community. Tieri spearheaded a "Dress For Success" clothing drive, collecting work attire for people in need to wear to work or to professional interviews. Dress for Success is a "global not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life," according to its website. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to almost 150 cities in 25 countries and has helped more than 1.2 million women work towards self-sufficiency. Tieri is the co-head of The Fashion Design club at Westfield High School, which is a group of students with a passion for fashion who work together to create and explore different aspects of fashion. The clothing drive ran from April 25 to May 20. The Fashion Design club collected suits, jewelry, dresses, dress shoes, ties and more to donate to "Dress for Success." Both men and women's work attire was collected through the drive. The club also raised awareness for the charity through Facebook and Instagram.
