Man Struck, Killed By Train Near Glen Rock Station

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Around 9:22 a.m. this morning, a Port Jervis, New York, train that was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken in 30 minutes, struck and killed a man near the Glen Rock-Boro Hall station, New Jersey Transit spokesperson Everett Merrill said. Glen Rock police found the man in the gauge, or space between two rails, of the Bergen County Line tracks on the eastbound side of the station, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Identification of the man, who is in his 50s, is pending, Ackermann said. There were no injuries reported to the crew and approximately 100 passengers on board the train, which remained stopped just beyond the station, authorities said. Nearby trains were temporarily suspended but have since resumed, he said. However, a Main/Bergen-Port Jervis train into Hoboken just after noon was late by 15 minutes, according to a NJ Transit Twitter account. New Jersey Transit police are still investigating the incident, Merrill added.
