NEW JERSEY - Even sharks are trying to get in on the action at the Jersey Shore this summer.
That's according to U.S. Coast Guard Station Cape May, which reported a 12-foot Great White shark less than a mile off the coast of Townsends Inlet near Sea Isle City on June 4.
In a video captured by an area fisherman, the massive shark can be seen swimming just below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, nearly within arms' reach of the videographer's 23-foot boat (see video below):
The shark was at least 10 to 13 feet, according to Jim Piazza - the fisherman who took the video - in a Facebook comment.
"You're gonna need a bigger boat," another social media user wrote.
The video surfaced roughly one month after Ironbound, a 1,000 Great White Shark, was located swimming about 150 miles from the Jersey Shore in late April. Read more: 1,000-Pound Shark Located Near NJ Coastline
Tancook, a nine-foot juvenile white shark, was also found off the coast of Atlantic City on May 4.
Factors like warming ocean temperatures have prompted an increase in shark activity and expanded northward migration patterns in areas along the New Jersey coast, experts say.
More humans entering the water for longer periods of time have also historically contributed to more attacks. In fact, most shark attacks occur near beaches with high tourism rates, per TIME.
But the chances of attacks are still very slim: per the International Shark Attack file, only 15 confirmed and unprovoked shark attacks have happened in the Garden State since 1837.
