Here are the top three stories today in Charleston: State Representative Wendell Gilliard and the Charleston County School District are working together to address areas of improvement to prevent school shootings. The representative met with district officials and top security officials on Monday for a meeting that lasted more than an hour. They identified that one school's security measures could be improved. (Live 5 News WCSC)The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of shots fired near Gahagan Park. The deputies responded to the park on Tuesday afternoon after a report was made. The investigators found shell casings but no victim. One person has been detained for questions. (Live 5 News WCSC)The former executive director of Charleston Legal Access has been nominated by President Joe Biden as the next United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina. Adair Ford Boroughs currently practices law at her law firm Boroughs Bryant, LLC. She will have to be confirmed before replacing Corey F. Ellis.
