PHOENIXVILLE , PA—The Phoenixville community joined with LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County Sunday to paint a permanent rainbow on the crosswalks at Bridge Street and Church Alley. The street mural is named "Pride Walk" in support of the LGBTQIA+ community, brightening up the downtown district for the return of Open-Air Market, which began last weekend and continues through the first week in October. The 100 and 200 blocks of Bridge Street are closed during weekends. The Open Air market kicked off with First Friday featuring musical acts, food vendors, arts and crafts, yoga classes and more. The festivities included a ribbon cutting ceremony at Heartwood Park, which was revitalized through private donations, and features a pavilion and bench seating where guests can enjoy a respite from activities downtown. Saturday featured a new event hosted by the Phoenixville Regional Chamber of Commerce, Rhythm & Brews. In addition to a pop-up beer garden highlighting a variety of local brews, the festivities included music and a cornhole tournament. More information on First Friday is available here.
