PENNGROVE, CA — A pedestrian died Sunday on Old Redwood Highway after he stepped in front of an oncoming truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
On Sunday at about 12:39 p.m., Santa Rosa CHP officers responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Old Redwood Highway, south of Hatchery Road in Penngrove, CHP said in a news release.
Preliminary investigations show that the pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, was walking in the bicycle lane of Old Redwood Highway. For unknown reasons, he stepped in front of a Ford F150 traveling northbound and was struck, CHP said.
The pedestrian was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The passenger and driver of the Ford were uninjured, CHP said.
