Description

Morgan Winery is a family-owned operation with a focus on Santa Lucia Highlands pinot noir and chardonnay. Much of the tonnage crushed is from the Double L, Morgan's organically farmed estate vineyard. We are looking for qualified and enthusiastic additions to our winemaking team for the 2022 vintage. Harvest Interns will assist with all wine production duties under the direction of the Winemaker. Interns will have the opportunity to work with grapes from some of the best vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Arroyo Seco and Chalone AVAs. This is a very hands-on position, providing experience with various winemaking styles. Shared experiences and knowledge from senior team members during the workday and at team lunches/wine tastings provide interns with a unique opportunity to learn about wines from the above AVAs and from around the world. This is a seasonal position with the potential to become a full time staff member. Anticipated duration of the internship is early/mid-August to November/December. During this period, the position is full-time, and frequent overtime will be required. Interns who excel may be considered for part- or full-time positions in the winery after harvest's end. Duties include: General cellar work- sanitation of all equipment, wine transfers, racking, filtration, topping Grape receiving, sorting, destemming, and pressing Fermentation management, barrel filling, addition of nutrients and yeasts Forklift transportation of barrels and equipment Key Requirements: At least 21 years of age Legal US work status Valid driver’s license with good driving record Interest in wine and the winemaking process Reliable and punctual means of getting to and from work Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions with acute attention to detail Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high safety standards Basic math skills Desired Abilities: Prior cellar experience of at least one harvest in a small to medium sized winery Current forklift certification Spanish language ability Ability to detect flaws and attributes in wines Interested?
