LIVERMORE, CA — The 2022 Point-in-Time Count marked the first official count of people experiencing homelessness in Alameda County since the start of the pandemic. The full report isn't out yet but preliminary results were shared in May. That data shows a decrease of 8.3% of the number of homeless in Livermore in 2022 compared to 2019. The count was 264 in 2019 and 242 in 2022. "During the pandemic, we housed over 100 people and some of them continue to be housed thanks to local housing programs," the city said. "We have implemented a number of strategies and programs over the years that have proven successful in preventing homelessness as well as helping those already experiencing homelessness." The number in Alameda County went up 22% since 2019. Overall, Livermore thinks its efforts as a city are working. "We haven't solved homelessness, but we're making good progress thanks to close collaboration with our incredible community partners." The full report is supposed to be released in July.
